Consumer Goods and Retail EU REACH
EU REACH services from SGS – ensure you meet the requirement of REACH Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006.
The REACH regulation places responsibility on the industry to manage the risks that the chemicals present in everyday items may pose to public health and the environment. It impacts the broadest range of consumer products. If your products do not comply, you will not be able to market them within the EU.
We offer a comprehensive suite of REACH services to help you meet your obligations, from registration, consulting, testing, auditing and verification to supporting ongoing compliance.
REACH requirements
Most REACH requirements apply directly to manufacturers and importers. You must:
- Register substances (either pure, or those classified as mixtures) by supplying data on the properties of their chemicals
- Develop chemical safety assessments
- Implement risk management measures
- Notify Europe’s regulatory authorities about the use of hazardous substances (REACH may then put these substances under authorization)
REACH requires that customers (manufacturers, retailers and consumers) have the information they need to be able to use products safely. Distributors are obliged to ensure that all relevant substance safety information is provided with the mixtures and articles they sell and that there are no restricted substances in the products that they sell.
We offer REACH services for the detergents and household care product industry. Whether you are within or outside the EU, our global network of laboratories and highly trained specialists, offers a one-stop-shop for services to ensure that your production and distribution systems support your compliance with REACH legislation.
